be kind botanical o1
This illustration was dreamed up during the time I spent in lock down at home during Covid. The news featured endless dismal numbers and stories, people were irritable and feeling impatient and isolated, some judging others for their behaviors/views/beliefs, others arguing over masks and school mandates, and on and on. It was a time during which the world came together in some ways, but eventually, as the months went on, seemed to become divided in so many others. This simple message, Be Kind, seemed timely. And with the daily walks I would take with my dogs, thru the canyon behind my home, quietly immersing myself in nature… I felt energized, refreshed, free, clearheaded. I realized it was time to doodle it all out on paper. Most of the botanicals in this illustration are exaggerated and make believe, to conjure a fairytale of a sweet, dreamy, rambling garden in a land where nothing goes wrong.
